Dr. Sax led a workshop via Zoom for family physicians, reviewing recent research on the growing proportion of girls and boys who identify as gender-nonconforming and/or transgender, with an emphasis on what family physicians should do – in terms of evaluation, management, and (when appropriate) referral – when a boy announces he’s a girl, or when a girl announces that she’s a boy. This Zoom presentation was hosted by the Family Medicine Residency of Idaho State University at Pocatello.
